EMDR Therapy for a more fulfilling life across the state of California.

Has it been challenging to overcome what happened to you in your past?

Maybe you’ve been to other Therapists or programs and still have not found relief. You find it difficult to trust others enough to open up to them about your pain. You’re ready and motivated to dig deep into the issues that have kept you stuck in the past. You’re ready to move forward and crush your goals.

Painful experiences from your past are preventing you from moving forward in your relationships, your career and in other areas of your life. You want to feel free. You don’t know what will work to get you to the finish line so you’ve all but given up. You’re tired of the pain and the choices you have made in your life. You’re seeking change from the self-destructive behaviors and are looking for healing, hope and joy.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a type of therapy that is proven to work in the area of trauma. Trauma is like a wound that your brain hasn’t been able to heal and because it didn’t have a chance to heal, your brain didn’t receive the message that the danger was over. You may have been living in this state for years. With EMDR therapy, you can emerge significantly less triggered or no longer disturbed at by the reminders of past wounds. This is where freedom lies.

Things we can work on in EMDR therapy:

  • Freedom from past hurts.

  • Greater self-confidence.

  • Identify triggers that led to negative reactions.

  • Choose positive coping skills to manage challenging experiences.

  • Set healthier boundaries in relationships.

It is possible to break free from your past, find true healing and finally be present in your relationships.

Frequently Asked Questions about EMDR.

  • EMDR is a type of therapy that has eight phases. It has been empirically proven to help clients overcome painful memories and adopt more effective coping skills. During an EMDR session, you will process through the negative beliefs, emotions and body sensations associated with your painful experience(s). You will then be guided in installing a new, more positive belief which will strengthen your sense of self in relation to that memory.

  • You will have an individualized plan and it will be based on your needs and goals for therapy. At the intake, we will discuss the challenges and issues that have brought you to therapy..

  • In EMDR therapy, there are big ‘t’s’ and small ‘T’s,’ which means that there may be big and small traumatic events that we experience throughout our life. We will discuss during the intake to see if this modality would be a good fit to use in our sessions.

Methodology:

EMDR is a type of therapy that desensitizes you from painful memories of the past. In session, I will work with you to identify negative beliefs about yourself in relation to the memory. I will guide you through processing the memory in a way that facilitates healing. Finally, we will install a new, more positive belief about yourself and settle any disturbance in your body that was affected by an incident. Many clients experience a feeling of great relief at the end of their experience with EMDR.
